I SEE
By Jennifer Paton, Golspie Primary

I see the wavy grass,
I see trees,
I see a butterfly
flying with ease.
I see water flowing towards me-
a beautiful world is what I see.

I see a digger,
I see mud,
I see concrete
poured with a thud.
I see gravel, a car park to be-
a building site is what I see.

I see lorries,
I see cars,
I see a shopping centre,
café and bars.
I see a car park, fifty pence fee-
a retail park is what I see.

I see road kills,
I see glass,
I see drunkards
as I fight to pass.
I see destruction- this isn’t the key-
a bad idea is what I see.

I see nature,
I see birds,
I see flowers-
no angry words.
I see beauty never to be-
A world out of reach is what I see.
