Lines in the Sand

Homelessness In Somalia
Arran Suleyman Langdon Park School

Much of the area of the north east of Somalia (esp Puntland) has been badly affected by severe drought recently, which in recent years has wiped out most of the animals on people's farms.

There are 400,000 "internally displaced people" in Somalia. 1 - 3 million Somalis have fled the wars and conflict in their country as refugees over the last 14 years to go to Kenya, Djibouti and Ethiopia and elsewhere.

Several orphanages will be forced to close their doors in the coming days due to a lack of financing, resulting in at least three thousand children being abandoned in the streets.
