As
one of the
richest countries
in the world, the USA has huge debts to the United Nations. It
owes in excess of $2 billion and although this money is
needed to pay for international peacekeeping and humanitarian
programmes, the US Congress has consistently refused
to pay all it owes.
At
the same time, through its 'control' of the World Bank
and IMF, the USA continually seeks to ensure that countries
in the South pay their debts as soon as possible.
How
do you think it's possible to justify this position? |
