Fairtrade Fortnight
Fairtrade Fortnight took place from 20th February to 7th March 2010. Many school are now engaged in topics relating to fair trade.
HEC has been actively involved in fair trade for many years and we have many useful downloads on this topic:
Fairtrade and history. This handout offers background on the origins of trade globally, looks at the East India Company and links this to the more recent concept of Fairtrade.
Credit Unions and schools - a 4 page document explaining the relevance of Credit Unions in tackling poverty and how teachers and children can work with them in schools as part of finance literacy and global awareness.
Social Enterprise and schools - a 4 page document introducing how schools can use enterprise and business to develop an understanding of the economics of fairtrade.
How to create a Fairtrade Policy statement - to become a Fairtrade School your school council can create a policy statement. Instead of just saying that Fairtrade should be supported this document helps you to explore why? And its ultimate aim of tackling world poverty.
