'A footprint means pressing down and global means world, so 'global footprint' means pressing down on the world and we don't want to press too hard' (child's definition of a Global Footprint)

Global Footprints Home

Welcome to Global Footprints, the website of HEC Global Learning Centre in London. Find out more.

This website, aimed primarily at teachers and educators, provides information, links, activities and opportunities for engagement around global learning and the global dimension, sustainability and climate change, global and active citizenship, participation and student voice, particularly in schools.

There are many new areas on the new updated site, and our popular 'Globalfootprints Children's quiz' is still available, along with a similar quiz aimed at the wider school community. Find it here.

Use the top icons to look at the issues we believe are important in global learning, ideas on how you and students can act on that learning, some games to play for students, and resources on how to teach using a range of relevant resources.

Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight took place from 20th February to 7th March 2010. Many school are now engaged in topics relating to fair trade.

HEC has been actively involved in fair trade for many years and we have many useful downloads on this topic:

what is sustainability? what about climate change? what about child rights?

did you know!

It would cost an estimated extra US$16 billion each year to reach the goal of halving the proportions of people without access to safe water and sanitation. This is less than North Americans and Europeans spend on pet food in one year!
