'A footprint means pressing down and global means world, so 'global footprint' means pressing down on the world and we don't want to press too hard' (child's definition of a Global Footprint)

Teach

This section offers teachers information and useful links relating to global learning in their classrooms.

The resources featured all help teachers develop young people's responses to global and social issues, and increase their understanding of the connection between their lives and the lives of others around the world, as well as the need to protect the planet. We work with teachers and learners in London, seeking to empower young people to take action.

We are currently encouraging teachers to use the resource from the British Museum and the BBC: ‘A History of the world in 100 objects’. This allows teachers to bring a global perspective to history and resources are available on the ‘A History of the World’ website.

Find out more about the objects on display at the British Museum.

As part of our own response to this, we are inviting teachers (globally) to choose an object that for them represents 'education' and explain their choice. This will form part of a collaborative and shared reflection, 'Education in 100 objects'. We hope you will join in this exploration of the values, inspiration and vision that underpin Education itself - a process of 'Questioning Education'.  It's a chance to exercise both creative and critical thinking! Tell us about your object!

HEC Global Learning Centre works with schools and teachers across London. Download our newsletters to see what we've been doing.

We also would like to remind you that there are a whole host of global teaching materials on the Global Dimension Website.
