'A footprint means pressing down and global means world, so 'global footprint' means pressing down on the world and we don't want to press too hard' (child's definition of a Global Footprint)

Kids do Global Footprints quiz

charlton Kings

Small groups of Year 5 children at Charlton Kings in Gloucestershire, completed the Global Footprints ‘How big is your footprint?’ quiz.

Following the quiz, each group examined one of the issues in more detail and were challenged to produce a leaflet on the issue which could then be distributed to other pupils and even the public., using the computer, designed a leaflet around that issue.

The project was carried out as part of the ICT curriculum so that the children used the internet to gather further information for their leaflets. The results were displayed and the leaflets printed.

Photos of the Global Footprints display at Charlton Kings primary school reveal some of the issues that the Year 5 children learnt more about through the work around the quiz.
