Equal transport footprints: a way forward

The solutions to our transport crisis can be summed up as reducing the need to travel and travelling differently when we need to. It is quite possible, indeed preferable, to create high quality living spaces without massive amounts of roads and cars, to eliminate deaths and injuries on the roads and to reduce the ill health and carbon emissions associated with transport.

What is missing is the political will to make this happen. We need to reduce dramatically the environmental and social impacts of transport and create a truly sustainable transport system that puts the poorest in society first.
