Events at the Town Hall

All the Town Hall events are unique - but there are a number of elements that normally go towards making a successful event.

All the events have a guest speaker - a national/international expert, who is interviewed by the children acting as reporters. Delegates are introduced to the importance of local democracy and the workings of the council at the Town Hall.

The teachers and students are all encouraged to invite councillors to their schools, to hold school council meetings at the Town Hall and invite a councillor, to find out how they can influence council decisions and meetings.

They are shown the Fair Play Wall and encouraged to discuss and vote on the democratic declaration. School council support teachers take away information and activities for the school councils to use in their schools.
