'A footprint means pressing down and global means world, so 'global footprint' means pressing down on the world and we don't want to press too hard' (child's definition of a Global Footprint)

Secondary resources

There are a whole host of 'Global Dimension' related resources available through DEC's and through various online sources as downloads.

Here are some resources that relate to current projects being implemented at HEC.

Makutano Junction

This is a resource based around a Kenyan drama/soap opera.

In 2010 we intend to continue sharing what London teachers have been doing with this resource, through a global teachers network. So far teachers have used MJ in ways that include:

  • Devising activities to do with their link schools in Africa
  • Looking in A-level media studies at 'representation' (of roles in society) in an international media
  • Engaging able Geography students in Year 9
  • Developing an RE resource to look at traditional African religion and its relation to 'imported' Christianity
  • Bringing a global dimension to Year 8 PSHEE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education)
what is sustainability? what about climate change? what about child rights?
