Work in Tower Hamlets

HEC has been working in Tower Hamlets schools for over two decades and has worked in a whole range of areas through a variety of projects and activities.

HEC, as part of the Schools Library Service, offers specific expertise, advice and packages relating to areas of school practice including:

  • school councils
  • student democracy, citizenship and participation
  • creative projects (Video/animation/Design&Technology),
  • electronic mapping
  • global displays and stories
  • linking with the global south
  • global learning curriculum topics and methodology
  • anti-discrimination
  • Ethnic Minority Achievement (EMA)
  • children's rights
  • sustainability
  • equality
  • diversity and identity
  • community cohesion.

In all our work we relate these areas of practice to current school directives, guidance and strategies.

In this section of the site you will find out about practical work in schools, which will encouarge you to develop further the innovative approaches and initiatives you embark on in your school.

If you are a Tower Hamlets teacher your school is represented on our Tower Hamlets children's website East End Talking, along with all other schools in the borough.

Be inspired!
