The Rocket Trust

The Rocket Trust was established in 1998 to support the work of CSKS.

CSKS (Chinnamul Shishu Kishore Sangstha) was establised in 1987 in Dhaka by Shah Rahman, a youth worker/barrister who had worked for many years in Brick Lane, Tower Hamlets, to work with the ever increasing numbers of street children in Dhaka.

The Rocket Trust was established by friends and colleagues of Shah who had visited the project and saw the need for a support group from the UK to maintain the youth work link between London and Dhaka and to share good practice between both groups, and to be responsible for raising some funds, and to support other grant applications.

The name the Rocket Trust came about because of the well-known paddle-steamer boat called the Rocket which plies between Khulna and Dhaka through the Sunderbans in Bangladesh bringing with it many children from rural areas who are seeking a new life on the streets of busy Dhaka.
